How can I automate a mechanical trading system?

Posted by admin

I want to use a trading system that triggers buy/sell signals when moving averages cross. Ideally I would like to completely automate the system so that it initiates trades on its own. I know there’s a few programs to setup these kinds of systems (such as TradeStation or TradeBullet), but I can’t use them with my online broker. Is there a Canadian broker that supports these programs? Or better yet, is there a broker that has a feature to completely setup the system with them?

Interactive Brokers will allow you to open a Canadian account and trade using Java through their TWS system. You would need to learn the Java programming language. There may be extensions that make this easier. You may also be able to use Ninja Trader with an IB Canada account.

See this review (I can’t vouch for its accuracy — I just found it with google) for other third-party apps that may work with IB:
