How can I automate a mechanical trading system?

Posted by admin

I want to use a trading system that triggers buy/sell signals when moving averages cross. Ideally I would like to completely automate the system so that it initiates trades on its own. I know there’s a few programs to setup these kinds of systems (such as TradeStation or TradeBullet), but I can’t use them with my online broker. Is there a Canadian broker that supports these programs? Or better yet, is there a broker that has a feature to completely setup the system with them?

Interactive Brokers will allow you to open a Canadian account and trade using Java through their TWS system. You would need to learn the Java programming language. There may be extensions that make this easier. You may also be able to use Ninja Trader with an IB Canada account.

See this review (I can’t vouch for its accuracy — I just found it with google) for other third-party apps that may work with IB:

I would like to get a XBOX 360, and are thinking about trading in some things to help me out at my local EB Games. I just need to know, in total, how much i might get for everything, and whoever puts the best game i think i should get, i will award them the best answer!

XBOX System
Halo
Halo 2
Star Wars KOTOR
Star Wars KOTOR II TSL
NBA Inside Drive 2003
ESPN NFL 2k5
Grand Theft Auto III
A spare controller
PS2 System

And remember, the best game you think i should get will get the best answer. it has to be one i have considered, but i wont tell you, but i need other suggestions as well.

Yea you should be able to get it. And you should get ………. The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion or Ghost Recon

Could you please rephrase "that is beyond normalcy" here in this context?

—————-
Futures market is where the world oil price surges occur beyond the usual limit. This trade system must be restructurized so that it can prevent any movement of oil prices *that is beyond normalcy* and in order that the futures market is not be used as a speculative media.

1. Change "restructurized" (incorrect) to "restructured."

2. There is no "usual limit" imposed on the price of oil futures; and I have no idea what you intend to convey with the use of the phrase "speculative media." Nevertheless, the text below might replace your second sentence to make it clearer:

"This trading system must be restructured in order to moderate the volatility in the price of oil futures that has resulted in widespread speculation by traders."
OR
"This trading system must be restructured by placing a cap on the price of oil futures thereby reducing the speculative bubble that has driven prices higher and higher."

I must add that market forces are driven, in the main, by supply and demand and the availability of credit. In my view, your argument is flawed. However, it is your argument, and I hope that my suggestions make it easier for you to express it with more clarity.
